So, I’m not sure if you know this… but I’m pregnant. You know, in case you somehow missed my constant running commentary on the matter.
And let me tell you, everyone (including your OB) will tell you that being pregnant the second time around is different. They say it’ll go by faster, you’ll get bigger quicker, and be uncomfortable longer (ummmm, yep!). But that’s not all.
You guys, someone politely asked me a few weeks ago how far along I was while chatting about what a great big brother Emmett would be and how exciting it all was…. and I had NO IDEA how pregnant I was. No idea. I literally had to look it up on my pregnancy app, while the poor woman smiled sheepishly at me. The second time around I don’t have a constant yardstick in my mind, measuring the length and weight of our babe-to-be against it’s same-sized fruit… nope, I’m lucky if I can remember my due date.
It’s not because I love this sweet little babe any less. No way! It’s just that I’m tired. Like “lie down on the carpet and play ‘mommy’s a bridge’ while Emmett climbs all over me, just so I can lie down for a moment” tired. Nobody warns you about the sheer exhaustion chasing/feeding/keeping alive a toddler while growing a human causes. It’s no joke.
Well, the energy of a toddler doesn’t subside just because mommy’s preoccupied with growing the sibling that he’s not even convinced he wants. Nope, in fact it feels like the demands for tasty snacks and fun activities have quadrupled! Add to that the fact that summer’s approaching, and we’ll be outside on-the-move most days, and it’s got me hunting for easy, healthy solutions.
Enter Dole Fruit Pouches! All the goodness of your favourite tasty summer fruits, with none of the peeling/prep that this pregnant mama can’t stomach (also, they’re completely re-sealable pouches – so just throw them in the fridge if you have some leftover!). So far, we’ve used the Fruit Pouches for:
-tasty picnic snacks/park snacks/on the go snacks (for both Emmett and I… ahem hem)
-as an ice cream topper for quick easy summer desserts
-added into salads for an easy fruit addition
-and my favourite, frozen into ice cubes (don’t tell my hubby I used his whiskey ice cube tray…) and plopped into carbonated water for a fancy, fruity preggo-friendly drink!
