I’m currently smack-dab in the middle of packing for our week-long family vacation, and guess what? It’s going to be the first time we’re on a plane with BOTH kids. I mean, packing a carry on that’ll keep two kids under 4 happy for four hours in a confined space should be suuuuuper simple, right?!
Well, luckily, we’ve learned a lot about travelling with young kiddos in the last couple of years, and you know what I’ve realized? Activities and toys are important to break up any down time, but food is always going to save the day.
Having healthy snacks that you know your kids will love will literally save your sanity on a long plane ride (hello air pressure changes and wacky nap times). But even beyond that, if your travel involves any hotel room stays, having healthy snacks with you that are shelf stable AND don’t require a kitchen to prep? Yep. You’re going to need that.
Which is why I couldn’t be more excited that one of our favourite companies Baby Gourmet just launched some fabulous new items… items that are going directly into our suitcase!
First: Baby Gourmet has launched a new cereal, which is music to our ears because Emmett STILL eats their cereal some mornings, and Charlie’s just as much of a fan. The new flavour is Apple Sweet Potato Multigrain Cereal and it’s pretty awesome.
It’s a new fruit and vegetable multigrain cereal with barley, oats and buckwheat. It’s high in fibre and an excellent source of protein for your baby, oh and did I mention it’s dairy-free, easy to digest and full of organic, nutrient-dense vitamins and minerals like iron and vitamin B?! We’re bringing it along, because it’s a great example of how easy hotel breakfasts can be healthy too!
Second: we don’t go anywhere in life (let alone on a four-hour flight) without some Baby Gourmet purees on hand. So, the launch of the new Pear Berry and Purple Carrot Puree couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! It makes incorporating plant-based nutrition into your baby’s diet easy and delicious. With the combination of 100% organic, non-GMO, pear, blueberry, cherry and purple carrot, this bad boy is an excellent source of antioxidant vitamin C & A.
You know Charlie will be eating one of these during takeoff and landing. Because here’s a real travel snack-hack for you friends, having little ones suck on a puree pouch is the BEST way I’ve found to keep their ears from popping (and therefore keep them from screaming their faces off).
And on those hotel days when you’re legitimately not sure if they’ve consumed a single vegetable? Baby Gourmet purees are always our answer. We stash a bunch in our suitcase and pull them out at snack time – because 1. The kids love them, and 2. It’s the easiest way to get some nutrient-dense food in their little bods!
Now, if you need me, I’ll be waist-deep in clothes and snacks, trying to get everything we need into two suitcases. Send prayers.
