Our powder room is what I’d call ‘cozy’. It’s by far the smallest room in our home, but don’t let it’s size fool you. As the only main-floor washroom in our home, it’s also one of the most used spaces!
Yet somehow over the almost five years that we’ve lived here, it’s been shuffled time and time again, to the bottom of our renovation list. I don’t know if it was it’s size, or the fact that it ‘worked okay’ and didn’t feel urgent that kept us from tackling it… but this little baby was in desperate need of some TLC.

I was determined to modernize the powder room, and found inspiration in this little beauty – the Grohe Tallinn faucet. It’s got a finish that resists dirt (hello toddlers!), has the smoooothest moving handle, and conserves water without sacrificing performance. So I’m not overstating things when I say we built the space around it.
We do have serious space constraints in the space but needed the functionality of a full size sink with a high performing faucet, so we chose a clean simple pedestal sink (that fit in the space) and let the faucet speak for itself.
We chose a dark, impactful colour for our shiplap wall, but paired it with light bright white walls, and white fixtures to ensure our tiny little room didn’t start feeling too cave-like. For the record I almost went with white shiplap in this room and I’m SO glad that I didn’t!
Pairing the clean lines of the fixtures with a few rope and wood touches softened the feel of the room just enough.
I’m so glad to have tackled this little powder room, because guys. Locking myself in here to hide from the chaos of our life just became a whooooooole lot more fun.
