There’s a whole lot in the world right now that feels out of our control. And that can be a tough pill to swallow.
Social distancing in times of crisis can feel tough. Really tough. Right?
So, I’m focusing on a couple things that make me feel calm, when the world around me feels a bit crazy: things that bring my family joy, and things that bring joy to others.
We’re at this interesting stage right now, where we’re bridging the toddler/preschool gap with our last baby. Which means we’re constantly looking at our baby gear and asking ourselves “do we still need this?”. We’re tantalizingly close to selling one of our strollers, our crib and possibly even the glider in our nursery (although that one might not go without a few tears!).
And while I know the time is coming to clear out the gear (and there’s A LOT of joy in that for me), I also get caught up in the logistics of making that happen. I mean, photographing, posting, responding to ads, coordinating appointments for viewing/pick-ups… it’s a lot. Especially right now. Right?
So, when I heard about Rebelstork, and the magic they’re creating in Toronto, I was over the moon! Rebelstork takes all the effort out of selling your beautiful baby gear. They pick it up, they list it, they sell it (and spread joy to another family who’s getting a fabulous deal)… and then you just simply get a cheque.
But beyond Rebelstork’s fabulous business model, I wanted to share something fabulous that Rebelstork is doing right now.
As the world tries to figure out how best to support neighbours, family, and friends during the COVID-19 pandemic, the team over at Rebelstork has a plan to help new mothers in need.
They’ve just launched a partnership with The New Mom Project, a not-for-profit that provides baby essentials to marginalized moms. Rebelstork is inviting people to make donations to the NMP through gift card purchases on their site. And then Rebelstork will match donations made to DOUBLE the impact.
They’re sending the funds raised weekly to The New Mom Project.
I mean, we all can relate to the social isolation of the newborn baby days. Just imagine it with no mom groups, no library visits, no baby yoga – no social connection.
Rebelstork wants to help get these moms out of the house in a safe way with essential baby gear, like strollers, carriers, and related accessories.
I’m so very proud to be a part of this important initiative, and hope you’ll all consider a donations if you’re able, so we can all help make parenting lighter for moms who need us during these heavy times.
Note: This post was written in partnership with Rebelstork and we received compensation as part of this partnership. But, as always, all the opinions and thoughts are all ours!
