Looking for an easy, fun Valentine’s craft that you can do with (or without) the kids?! This is one of our faves, and we mayyyyy currently have little yarn hearts all over the house.
To make these little gems, you’ll need:
Yarn (your choice of colour, or colours, but small to medium weights work best)
Cardboard (we used an old diaper box)
Marker
Scissors
Heart template (we used a two different sized heart cookie cutters)
Step 1:
Using your heart template, draw heart shapes onto your cardboard. Include a mark for hole cut-out near the top of the heart if you want to be able to hang the hearts when they’re complete.
Step 2:
Cut out your heart shapes, and use your scissors to carefully punch out your center hole.
Step 3:
Carefully cut slots along the outer edge of the heart shapes. You’ll use these to secure the first few wraps of your yarn.
Step 4:
Push yarn through the center hole of the heart for your hanging loop (you won’t be able to do this once you start wrapping).
Step 5:
Wrap yarn around the heart securing strands in the slots. Try to wrap the yarn in concentric circles in the beginning so you don’t end up with a big yarn lump in the middle of the heart.
Step 6:
Keep wrapping until the heart is fully covered, then cut your yarn and tuck the end into the wrapped pieces.
Step 7:
Hang your hearts anywhere you like! You can even make them into a little garland by tying them onto some braided yarn.
