Baby Registry Must-Haves!

by | Oct 11, 2017 | Family, Featured | 2 comments

It wasn’t that long ago that we were registering for items for wee baby Emmett – blindly trying to decide what we thought we’d need, and doing our best to follow our instincts on items we thought would be useful.

Now, on the other side of baby number one and gearing up for baby number two’s arrival, we realized that our success rate on the registry guessing game was probably 50% at best. So, what are we going to do about it? We’re going to help some mamas out!

We’re sharing our ‘Advice from a Second Time Mom: Registry Must Haves’. What did we use the crap out of the first time around and what do we wish we’d known to register for – so you can make sure you’re going to have everything you need for your own little nugget!

Oh, and Spoiler Alert: You’re going to want to read to the bottom, because there’s a freaking awesome GIVEAWAY waiting for you down there!

So, here goes:

  • Bravado Original Nursing Bra – while it may seem a little unconventional to have a nursing bra on your registry, your girls will thank you for this one. The Original Nursing Bra from Bravado is far and away the most comfortable option I’ve found for those early days, when you’re trying to settle into a nursing routine and you’re not quite sure where the ta-tas are going to net out in the size department. It’s soft, stretchy, supportive, and well designed for easy nursing – all things that will make your new-baby world just a little bit easier!
  • A Dual-Camera Baby Monitor – we spent a lot of time thinking about baby monitors for Emmett, and settled on one that we loved that had great video capability. What we DIDN’T think about though, was the fact that there might be a time when we’d have TWO babes in cribs at the same time and we might want video in both rooms (because no one thinks they’re crazy enough for 2-under-2… until they are!). So, this time around we went to our favourite baby store Buy Buy Baby to do some research. A small aside, if you haven’t been to Buy Buy Baby – go! It’s the place we wish we’d registered at. They have amazing selection, and their associates are SO helpful and knowledgeable. Check out the video below for our thoughts on Dual Camera baby monitors with some help from our friends at Buy Buy Baby.

  • Playtex® Diaper Genie® Elite – there’s always a ton of debate about this on mom forums, and whether it’s needed or not. I can tell you this. We loved it, and used it every day. In fact, we used it so much we got a second one for Em’s big boy room when we moved him out of the nursery (the joys of 2-under-2!) and we still use it daily almost 2 years later. The reality is this: if you live in a house with more than one level, or if your nursery is more than a few steps from your kitchen garbage, the Diaper Genie is worth it. You’re not always going to be able to quickly tote a stinky diaper downstairs to your main garbage when your babe is fussing, you’re trying to nurse, and/or you’re just too exhausted. Having an extra ‘stink-free’ place to throw diapers during the day when you have your hands full is TOTALLY worth it in our humble opinion.
  • Wee Woollies Merino Infant Sleep Gown – having a winter baby quickly made me appreciate the value of quality, well-designed sleepers that would keep tiny babes warm and help regulate body temperature. Enter the 100% merino wool sleep gown from Wee Woollies. It’s soft, cozy, lovely, and has an awesome fold-over pouch at the bottom to keep babe snug and make night time diaper changes a breeze. This one’s a winner for sure!
  • Kushies GoPillow – I tried a lot of nursing pillows with Emmett (we had a rough start to the whole nursing thing, and basically tried anything that might help), and I never felt like I found the right solution. This time around I was determined to do some searching ahead of time and stumbled across the Kushies GoPillow. It’s a portable nursing pillow/blanket combo that fits over your arm and props babe up at an easy angle AND makes discreet nursing on the go a breeze! It’s the most versatile and functional option we’ve found, especially if you’re planning to be nursing on the go with a toddler in tow!
  • HelloFresh Meal Delivery – if we could do it again, we’d definitely have this on our registry. HelloFresh delivers amazing, fresh, delicious meal boxes directly to your door, and all you need to do is cook them. Cut out the meal planning, grocery shopping and general food hassle for you and your partner in the early days, and you’ll be forever grateful – trust me, it’s one more thing you’re not going to want to worry about. I’m officially giving this to every new mom I know from now on – and if you want to try it yourself, use our code EMMETT to save $50 on your first two delivered boxes! No excuses!

Okay, we promised some amazing giveaway fun – so here it is!
