Okay, guys, you know that when I find something I love, I have a deep need to share it with you.
Well, I’ve been using these AfterShokz Trekz Air headphones for just over 60 days now, and man do I love them.
So, you’re going to get the down and dirty today. I’m going to tell you the three ways I’ve been using them most often, and why they’ve been on my ears almost daily for the past two months.
For Running
I talked a little bit about this in a previous post, but I never felt comfortable running in the city with headphones on. I hated the idea of not being able to hear what was going on around me and felt like it was too risky. The AfterShokz Trekz Air headphones changed that.
They use bone conduction technology to transmit the music through your cheekbones, which leaves your ear canal completely free to hear what’s going on around you! Traffic noise, sirens, other people on the sidewalks. I haven’t gone for a run without them in two months!
For Listening to Podcasts
When you’re a mom, you squeeze in personal time whenever you can. Stop in at our house on any given day during naptime, and you’ll find me taking photos, folding laundry, putting away said laundry, prepping food, etc.… and you know what I’m doing at the same time? Listening to podcasts. Because you can’t read a book while you prep chili, but you sure as heck can led a podcast play in the background!
The AfterShokz Trekz Air headphones are my go-to set for naptime listening, for two reasons. 1. They let me hear what’s going on around me (see above), so when little voices call down to me from a crib, I can easily hear them. And 2. They’re really comfortable. They’re super light. So much so that I can easily forget I’m wearing them! And because they’re completely wireless, I don’t have to worry about getting tangled in any of the work I’m doing.
For Taking Phone Calls
I’m going to admit, this is one way I didn’t plan on using these headphones. But taking conference calls at home has gotten so much easier with them on. I mean, you’re going to see a common thread here, but being able to hear my kids around me while I’m on the phone is key (mom life, right?!), but they also have a six hour battery life, which means I can easily take a call or two while I’m walking around the house, and not worry at all about them dying!
Any when they do need to be recharged? It’s as simple as plugging them in to a USB charger for a few hours and you’re back online.
So, now that I’ve raved about these bad boys for the last few paragraphs (I’m serious guys, I’ve used them almost every day for the past two months), I know you’re going to ask what I don’t like about them. The short answer is, nothing.
But the slightly longer answer is this: I absolutely love the bone conduction technology, for the simple reason that it allows me to hear what’s going on around me. But it does take a little getting used to. I had to play with the volume and position of the headphones the first time I wore them to find the sweet spot for me where the sound quality was awesome, but I could still hear what’s going on around me. It wasn’t a hassle at all and was no different than the learning curve I’d have with any new device. But just something to note when you give them a test run for the first time.
So, that’s it friends! If you see me out for a run around the ‘hood check out my headphones, or yell ‘hi’!
Because I’ll 100% be able to hear you AND my 90’s pop playlist.
